The desktop inkwell was filled with ink from a big bottle. People wrote with pens, like the one shown here, dipped in ink. It was difficult to write neatly. The wet ink was dried with blotting paper to stop it from smudging. There were no fountain pens, handwriting pens, felt tip pens or biros. |
